Microsoft Xbox 360 Platinum System
At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

"Does whats promised: a complete gaming and multimedia box for your TV"
I bought a 360 about a month and a half ago at the beginning of summer 2008. I use it daily for watching movies, playing Halo, or listening to music on my surround sound. It simply is the best entertainment hub available. It beats the pants off bu

"Good when it works. Afraid it wont last long"
I had to send it back within few months because it overheated and fried itself. When it works it works fairly well but it does let me down quite a bit. It seems like it needed a larger cooling sytem. It is very loud even when it is enclosed in my med
PROS: Works well as a gaming console

"Some great games, decent design, but not very durable"
After having my 360 since 2006 I have had to deal with xbox live issues, breakdowns, incompatibly with T.V , had the redlight of death, and been through hell(a.k.a costomer support), but all these bad thing that have happened to me seemed to have bee

"Nice console, if used in moderation."
All in all, this is a fine gaming console, as well as an upscaling DVD player (requires either a VGA HD cable or HDMI for newer X360s), and has plenty of options for downloading game demos, movie trailers, and addons for games you might own, etc...
PROS: Sleek gaming, nice full entertainment hub, good feature set.
CONS: Can cause crashes, had to have one sent in for a replacement.

"Great games; great controller and great Media Center"
Even if my XBox360 fries, I'll be repairing it and/or getting a new one. I can't live without the Media Center, I play games all the time, and the controller is great. There is no question that quality control isn't up-to-snuff, but Microsoft deliv
PROS: My TiVo died last year, and I ended up able to hook my computer to the XBox360 for Media Center functionality, and I couldn't live without it. I also love the online capabilities, great games, and controllers. I haven't had a any problems with it.
CONS: A lot of people get the Red Ring of Death. I haven't had that yet (knock on wood), and I've had it going on 3 years. My brother-in-law's fried, and Microsoft repaired it, no problem, in two weeks. My brother's died, and no problems repairing, too.

"The most unreliable console I have ever owned"
When I originally got my XBOX 360 back in 2006, I never imagined that I would have to have had four of them replaced in less than two years time. The XBOX 360 is perhaps the most unreliable console I have ever owned. My 8-Bit Nintendo still works t
PROS: Great games; UI
CONS: Breaks all the time; unreliable; XBOX Customer Support is a hit or miss

"If you want to play the latest games without worrying if your PC can handle it., this is the way."
Having played consoles and PC games for the last 25 years one could assume I know a little of what I speak. I used to be a staunch supporter of PC only gaming. That was the case until the "Playstation 3"(PS3) and the "Xbox 360"(360) arrived and I sta
PROS: The system works, all the latest games, supports 1080p, smooth fps, large game selection, controls work great. Lot of options for displaying on TV, monitor, or HDTV, Online work flawlessly, easy GUI
CONS: With age gets a little noisy, some accesories more expensive than needed, DRM is a pain sometimes, addictive, as anywhere multiplayer people can be a pain, simple things (avatars etc) should be free

"Yes no blue ray player is a factor in my rating"
Regardless of what Sony fans might say the 360 has the best selection of games on the market. Hopefully microsoft will release a blue ray disc drive in the future but Sony does have the rights to the technology so it may not happen.
PROS: Easy to set up, Best game selection, and live is great
CONS: no blue ray disc drive available... yet.
