Atlas Shrugged
At last, Ayn Rand's masterpiece is available to her millions of loyal readers in trade paperback.
With this acclaimed work and its immortal query, "Who is John Galt?", Ayn Rand found the perfect artistic form to express her vision of existence. Atlas Shrugged made Rand not only one of the most popular novelists of the century, but one of its most influential thinkers.
Atlas Shrugged is the astounding story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world--and did. Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged stretches the boundaries further than any book you have ever read. It is a mystery, not about the murder of a man's body, but about the murder--and rebirth--of man's spirit.
* Atlas Shrugged is the "second most influential book for Americans today" after the Bible, according to a joint survey conducted by the Library of Congress and the Book of the Month Club more

Not what I expected
It has been many, many years since I first read Atlas Shrugged, and I have been looking forward to purchasing the audiobook to listen to on my long commute to and from work each day. The book is contained on 50 (Yes, FIFTY) CD's, and when I set the first 5 discs and started the CD player, I was...

Atlas Shrugged
Let me make this just as simple as I can. Rand opened up a world of wonder as unique as Columbus' discovery of his new western world in 1492. We all only wish we had the creativity, advanced learning and IQ of the literary economic giant we simply can Ayn.

A conceptual masterpiece conveyed through imperfect language is no less tainted
This is a 'good' book. I call it such because its concerns are chiefly achieved, and its points are poignant. That is not to say, however, that there are some serious detractors contained in the 1200-page monstrosity. To those who criticize her economic/political structure: it's a tad irrelevant....

Great ideas, mediocre story-telling
I just finished reading this book last night. I think the philosophy she describes and lives by is a brillant adaptation of Adam Smith. The novel is very Melville-like in it's description of the most minute detail of the mundane. Be prepared to wrestle through some very dry pages to get to the...

Americans, don't let the United States become another People's Republic!
Since I grew up in the Soviet Union, it is not surprising I never heard of Ayn Rand until the day my liberal coworkers told me I might like her writings based on my "conservative" and "capitalist" beliefs. Thanks to them I now have a favorite writer, Ayn Rand.Ayn Rand was born in St. Petersburg,...

Wow, where to start!
I just finished reading Atlas Shrugged...it took me 3-4 months. Unfortunately, I can only give it 2-stars out of 5.The most positive aspects of the book were Rand's colorful descriptions (e.g. city scenes) and strong use of similes and metaphors. She is a decent writer, but mostly around the...

Atlas Shrugged CDs
I purchased the CDs to get a "quick" overview of the Book ... about 1,300 pages. There were 50 CDs in the packet ... so much for a quick overview. But the CDs are wonderful! The speaker does an outstanding job of all the characters and it is easy listening. Although the writing is...

If you like "LOST" you will LOVE this book!
First of all, it's a big long book, nearly 1200 pages. It takes a while to "get it." But when you do, you will be chatting it up to all your friends! The audio version is well-crafted, with an excellent narrator. It will take you 50-60 hours to listen to the whole book, so we need the fine voice...

A thought provoking contemporary epic penned fifty years ago. Ayn Rand demonstrates a unique insight of human nature and the fabric of society in the U. S. that is just as compelling today as ever. A true classic of American literature.
