At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.

This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

From: Amazon Posted: Jul 14, 2008 Type: User Review Not really Word any more

I've used Word since version 2.0. Of course, each time a new version came out, there were always some adjustments or glitches, sometimes frustrating ones. But overall, pretty much every version was an improvement, and after a couple of weeks, I...

There was a time when Microsoft Office Word's most recent incarnation was held as the Gold Standard of word-processing programs by most casual- and many professional-computer users. This "article of faith" was so ubiquitous that the pre-installed dow

What were the geniuses at Microsoft thinking? This "upgrade/redesign" is a reminder of the bad old days of incompatible DOS applications when someone trained on one application didn't have a clue how to use another one. Remember the old templates for

One single feature of Word 2007 has led me to conclude the MS' developers are either morons or decided to play a practical joke on the world. I am a scholar. I use lots of endnotes. I supervise professors and analysts who use lots of endnotes. MS

From: Amazon Posted: Jul 07, 2008 Type: User Review Steve Balmer - What did you do

My review will echo many reviewers experiences, that apply to not only Word but the entire Office 2007 suite. DO NOT BUY THIS "UPGRADE" as it will be a waste of your time. Office 2007 offers very limited improvements over 2003, but significant...

If Microsoft's intent was to drive me to Open Office, they've succeeded. I am a Power MS Word user and have been since 1992. I know all of the keyboard shortcuts so that I can format a document blindfolded. Now, basic tasks are buried somewhere und

From: Amazon Posted: Jun 15, 2008 Type: User Review Microsoft WORST 2007

Word 2007 is a perfect example of why you shouldn't try to fix something that was never broken. Instead of improving Word, they made it ugly and just plain annoying. An experienced user can figure out how to use it...but the hunting and searching...

I was just getting proficient with 2003 and they've completely changed the interface. I can't find anything. It took me five to seven minutes just to figure out how to "save file as". There is no file menu so that isn't the easy task it once was.

I have to disagree with most of the negative opinions. I'll admit, the first week that I used this, I thought "oh my god, why on earth would they make this obnoxious ribbon?"- It took me another minute to get rid of that damn Calibri font every time

Excel 2007 has lots of fancy formatting and some good new features (especially autofiltering and conditional formatting), but the replacement of toolbars with the "ribbon" was a big step backwards. Calc'n performance is also poor compared with Excel
