Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture
Meet the Female Chauvinist Pig -- the new brand of "empowered woman" who embraces "raunch culture" wherever she finds it. In her groundbreaking book, New York magazine writer Ariel Levy argues that, if male chauvinist pigs of years past thought of women as pieces of meat, Female Chauvinist Pigs of today are doing them one better, making sex objects of other women -- and of themselves. Irresistibly witty and wickedly intelligent, Female Chauvinist Pigs makes the case that the rise of raunch does not represent how far women have come; it only proves how far they have left to go. more

- Thank you Ariel Levy
What a breath of fresh air this book is! Since the rise of internet porn and multi-channel entertainment choices, pro-sex feminism has been co-opted by a narrow, mundane script for womens' sexual "liberation". Levy opens a sorely needed...

- Excellent!
Ariel Levy is magnificent at showing how every self classifying people in America have become chauvinistic. Very well written and documented about how sad we really are about portraying proper respect for one another.

The seller neglected to inform me that the book was an ex-library book with stamps throughout and a plastic cover taped down. The book was advertised as used - very good condition. As a collector this is very dissappointing.

I agree with much of what has already been said about it. It's a well-written book and I admire Levy's aggressive yet considerate approach to her subject.

Ariel Levy picked a great topic on which to write. Rauch culture is something that's so ubiquitous that a thoughtful study is deeply relevant to both feminist thinking, as well as American cultural thinking. A thoughtful study would have...
