Stagecoach
This landmark 1939 Western began the legendary relationship between John Ford and John Wayne, and became the standard for all subsequent Westerns. It solidified Ford as a major director and established Wayne as a charismatic screen presence. Seen today, Stagecoach still impresses as the first mature instance of a Western that is both mythic and poetic. The story about a cross-section of troubled passengers unraveling under the strain of Indian attack contains all of Ford's incomparable storytelling trademarks--particularly swift action and social introspection--underscored by the painterly landscape of Monument Valley. And what an ensemble of actors: Thomas Mitchell (who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar as the drunken doctor), Claire Trevor, Donald Meek, Andy Devine, and the magical John Carradine. Due to the film's striking use of chiaroscuro lighting and low ceilings, Orson Welles watched Stagecoach over and over while preparing for Citizen Kane. --Bill Desowitz more

Masoud Mirmomeni
It is one of the greatest movies in Western genre. Like other Ford's movies, the ending is great.

Great Western
Product exceeds my expectations and arrived in a timely fashion. Very happy with both shipment and service, along with a great product. I highly recommend this to all customers for a future purchase. Very interesting to see The Duke really be enjoying himself in early movies.

Great classic western
This is a great classic movie and in my opinion one of the best John Wayne Movies. The performances by the supporting cast should not be overlooked or overshadowed by the Duke either.

Classic Western
Stagecoach is without question one of the top three western movies of all time. It's a joy to see the young John Wayne come into his own in this great movie. An interesting sidelight is that the director, the renowned John Ford, suggested that Wayne do his classic look of putting his head down...

A Classic Western
Stagecoach DVDIt's been made more than once, but I don't think it's been made better. This is a classic in every sense of the word. John Wayne in one of his earliest movies plays the Ringo Kid or just Ringo to my friends. A confederate gambler, an alcoholic ex-Union doctor, a woman of...

Stagecoach
If you're looking at ordering Stagecoach, you probably don't need me to tell you that it's a great movie. Yes, it's in black and white. Yes, it's a little grainy. Yes, its on a square screen. That will keep the brats who don't like looking at a movie in black and white from seeing it. This...

Impressive Entry to the Genre
An interesting bunch of people are about to share a common bond; they will be travelling together in a small stagecoach across an Indian-infested land. Doc Boone (Thomas Mitchell) and Dallas (Claire Trevor) are being kicked out of town because of their shady activities. Mrs. Mallory (Louise...

The First Truly Great Western!
This wasn't the first ever western and in fact, director John Ford had a hard time convincing studio execs to let him make yet another western and even resisted the casting of John Wayne as the leading man. Thankfully, they failed and what we have is the definitive western and the one that set...
