Great introduction for this series.
This first installment in The Gardella Vampire Chronicles, set in 19th Century London, introduces you to a great cast of characters. Victoria Gardella Grantworth seems to be a typical, society debutante progressing through the formal courtships and the glamour of balls and parties. But there is...

And Buffy thought she had it hard...
For generations the Venators of the Gardella family have protected the world from the damned--vampires. Now, on the eve of her much delayed debut, Victoria Gardella Grantworth, has been called to arms. While the other beautiful young debutants of London fill their dance cards and worry about what...

Nineteenth century Buffy!
First, it is a start of a great series. All good series have to begin somewhere and that is how this book is. People have said that the next ones are better, but without this intro to the characters and the authors views of vampires, the next books would be nothing. This book does everything...

The Rest Falls Away: The Gardella Vampire Chronicles
I've just finished reading this book and I must admit, it was wonderful! Yes, it does sort of remind you of a 19th century Buffy, but the author admits to drawing her inspiration from Buffy. The only reason I give it 4 starts instead of 5 is because the 19th century dialog kind of slowed me down...

A delightful take on paranormal romance
I enjoyed this book thoroughly. The characters are well developed for the fist in the series. More is learned about the characters as the series continues, more is learned about the motivations of their action. It also develops the world of the novel in a way that is compelling. I found the...

ah, me!
I took the plunge after much deliberation and bought this book. I wish I hadn't. I really debated buying it because I was afraid I wouldn't like it. I love vampires--read all about them, so I was hoping this would be a good one. But, for me, the downside was the romance. I didn't really care...

sadly disappointing
I really wanted to like this book. I've attempted to get into it 3 or 4 times, but I'm always held back by the book's many flaws. The writing itself seems a little pushed, and the characters don't grab me. Some main features of the plot bother me also.*mild spoilers from early on in the book*The...

Slight twist on Buffy!
This is a good book for those who enjoy vampire/slayer material. I personally love vampire books and stories so I am enjoying this one. Not the best book I've ever read (that would probably be twilight) but it's good.

Not the best in this genre
I've been reading Vampire romance for a few years now - some do it well and some don't. The Gardella series is falling in the latter category, which is sad because I too thought the premise was good. Gleason's writing is more Regency Romance than gritty and lacks even a good bodice ripper's gift...

Regency Buffy
The description of this book sounded like Buffy in the 1700's: Every generation one is chosen to fight the vampires and given superhuman abilities etc. Regency Buffy is basically what this book is. And that's not a bad thing. The book starts off a little slow, and there are plenty of questions...
