Motorola T8500 Talkabout 2-Way Radios with Rechargeable Pack NOAA Weather Alerts and Vibrate
At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

Good for the Price
After reading all the reviews here, I went ahead and bought the Talkabout anyway. That just goes to show that you can't always rely on someones elses opinion. What do you wnat these 2 ways to do for you? if you take them on a boat, you're out of...

Useless...very disappointed!
I am very disappointed...the reception is so poor that I can barely make out what is being said on the other end at any distance. We have tried every channel and nothing comes out understandable. I would stay clear of this brand!

Terrible Range
The T8500 claims to have an optimum range of 18 miles. I live in flat farm country. It couldn't get any flatter. We tried most of the channels, tried turning the digital filter on and off, and the best range we could get was one mile. Beyond...

2way radio
These are pretty good. They have a lot of directions but they come in handy when they'r are storms in the area. That is what I got them for and my 5 yr old Grad-daughter plays with them for the 2way Radio. She loves it. Now that I got them I...

Useless due to poor noise quality
The unit is cheap, appears to be solidly made, the batteries last a long time, the range is good - up to 4km in a straight line if there is no hills or trees between radios but the noise quality is so bad you cannot understand what the other...

Motorola is tarnising their good name with cheap toy radios
I have had a pair of Motorola 1 watt radius P50 walkie-talkies for over a decade. They are amazing radios but pretty big. We got the Motorola T8500's for Christmas. They are worse than a toy. I am really disappointed with Motorola. They used to be...

Totally useless, unintelligible speech.
I bought these and expected that they be better than the Uniden GMR 1448-2CK walkies I already have (that work just fine). Not the case! Speech is very hard to understand. While my Unidens are loud and clear over any distance I've tried, the...

Horrible!
I received these as a gift after having used the older T6310s and T5100s for over ten years with great success. These radios are touted as having expanded range over the others, but we found the earlier models to still be superior.
