These truly world-class offerings have quite possibly the greatest leg locks created, offering the small amount of movement needed( versus flip levers ) without the annoying unwanted rotations or order of operations traditionally associated with twist locks. Both the 830 840 have 3-positions of leg spread for normal, semi-low and full-low angle shooting. The head platforms have reversible mounting studs for either 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 head mounts. The legs feature a maximum 36mm diameter tube of cross-layered carbon fiber material. In response to the demand for a durable yet lightweight tripod, Velbon has produced the Carmagne series of carbon fiber and magnesium alloy tripods. They offer superior strength and professional specifications, and are one third lighter than their conventional aluminum counterparts, yet strong enough to absorb vibrations. Carbon fiber is also more resilient to temperature changes.
