This tripod is great for almost any type of use, but ideal for travel purposes. It does have a weight limit so some of the supersized glass may have weight issues, but it is able to support my Canon 30D, battery grip and a 70-200mm lens.

I was a little hesitant about paying this much for a tripod but all I can say is that it is half the weight of most I have lifted yet extends to the same size. It is very compact when closed (about 17") and weighs (with the Gitzo G1278M head)...
