1,000 Places to See Before You Die: A Traveler's Life List
Packed with recommendations of the world's best places to visit, on and off the beaten path, 1,000 PLACES TO SEE BEFORE YOU DIE is a joyous, passionate gift for travelers, an around-the-world, continent-by-continent listing of beaches, museums, monuments, islands, inns, restaurants, mountains, and more. There's Botswana's Okavango Delta, the covered souks of Aleppo, the Tuscan hills surrounding San Gimignano, Canyon de Chelly, the Hassler hotel in Rome, Ipanema Beach, the backwaters of Kerala, Oaxaca's Saturday market, the Buddhas of Borobudur, Ballybunion golf club-all the places guaranteed to give you the shivers.
The prose is gorgeous, seizing on exactly what makes each entry worthy of inclusion. And, following the romance, the nuts and bolts: addresses, phone and fax numbers, web sites, costs, and best times to visit.

This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

Disappointing
The world is big. Lots to see. Lots of beauty. All of it can't be listed. Got it. However, I can't understand how Lebanon, one of the most beautiful and fascinating countries in the world (one that managed to maintain some level of tourism...

A travel library "must-have"
I received "1,000 Places to See Before You Die: A Traveler's Life List" as a birthday gift from a friend a few years ago and it has since become one of the most well-thumbed volumnes in our travel library.

Not Practical
Thought it would be a fun book to read but too exhausting and not very pratical. Would not buy again. Fun casual "no thinking" birthday gift but that is about it.

Great travel ideas!
This book contains both luxury priced and reasonably priced options for places to stay and things to do. I like the options given for travel around the world, even to out-of-the-way places.

Good book
This is a really neat book! It would be great to see this with slick pages and color photos...but that would really jack up the price.

Fun to read.. but a real travel guide?
As an armchair traveller, I had a lot of fun reading this book and its sequel, "1001 Places.. in the US and Canada". The entries are divided into continents, and further grouped by countries. The information is plentiful, with photos, websites,...
