State of Fear....such an appropriate title for tackling environmental hysteria
I picked up this book after watching an interview with Michael and Charlie Rose. Michael gave an excellent interview on that show and he said some phrases that really sparked an interest in reading "state of fear". I had my suspicions about the environmental movement being mostly hype because I...

A very fun read with a lot of good insights (and incites!)
I loved the book; it is a fun read, even if you don't pay attention to the scientific angle of "global warming." Now, if you do, the whole new dimension opens up - I suspect most of the facts that he brings up about this phenomemon will indeed check out and so the boom does make you think about...

Crichton's worst
I've read a lot of Crichton's novels, and I now believe Crichton is really hit or miss. Jurassic Park, Timeline, Sphere, and Andromeda Strain are fantastic. Congo, Disclosure, and Prey suck. Airframe might be the only book of his that I read that I thoroughly enjoyed but didn't regard as a...

Preposterous
I've been a Crichton fan for many years. The plots have always been out there but his characters and writing combined with the kernel of science made for a good read. A few years ago I struggled through Timeline and should have realized then that MC had jumped the shark. This latest book is full...

More truth than fiction, and a glorious ride to boot!
Crichton is not only a prolific and prestigious author, but also a Dr. Meaning he holds at least one PHD. His works are often based more on researchable fact than on fiction. Most of his works have lengthly Appendixes and Bibliographies, allowing you to read and or research the materials he...

State of Fear
A riveting page-turner, as we've come to expect from Crichton. Also impeccably researched, with as many references as a scientific-journal article. Crichton's "Author's Message" and Appendix I following the book's conclusion are the most comprehensive literature review and well-thought-out...

Crichton at his best!
I love almost everything Crichton wrote. So sad he will no longer write. State of Fear is one of my favorite Crichton books. Although the story is fictional, it has factual content making it thought provoking as well as entertaining. I'm sure many reviewers gave it a low rating because of...

A Must Read for Anyone Concerned About Socialism
Socialism? Yes, socialism, for the propaganda campaign concerning global warming (GW) is one of the left's "back doors" to socialism. GW permeates education, media, and big business (don't they all proclaim to be green these days?). "Front door" socialism hasn't worked anywhere it has been tried...

Typical great book from Crichton
I read this right after reading Next and it brought me back to the typical thriller I expect from Chricton. Great read! Michael T. Hanley, CPA is the Managing Partner of the Smithtown, NY CPA Firm, Merl & Hanley, LLP and the author of Effective Tax Planning for the MicroBusiness: 30 Minutes...

okay story, good facts
Most of Michael Crichton's (RIP) stories deal with real world controversies, and 'State of Fear' is no different in that it deals with the so called "global warming" controversy. The story itself is not one of Dr. Crichton's best, but the facts presented (and documented) by the author are of...
