The apochromatic refractor is the telescope design which produces the most breathtaking contrast and resolution, and Tele Vue offers these in six apertures. You won't get the light gathering capacity per dollar of Newtonian reflectors nor the portability for aperture of Schmidt-Cassegrain. But what you will get are views to be envied by both, with the darkest of background sky and the sharpest, widest fields imaginable. Combined with Tele Vue eyepieces or especially the remarkable Bino Vue viewer, the experience cannot be bested by anything one would consider portable. Best telescope of its kind in the world

I have had the Tele-vue 101 (about the same as the NP) for over 6 years. I know it has a better sky view than the 12 inch Griffith Park observatory telescope. I showed it to people with 8 to 10-inch telescopes and they almost got down on their...
