PROS: Userful to connect hard drives as data backup drives. It is USB 2.0 so the transfer speed seems just a little slower than connecting IDE directly
CONS: The cable is a little short. Did not come with an USB extension cord either. So when I connected it to the USB ports in front of my computer, the hard drive dangled vertically.

I would say you needed moderate computer smarts (and/or good instruction following skills) to get this thing to work...but not much more than that. And a SATA drive, of course (*grin*).

Booting takes a little longer with this card...

This is a good product, nice to have PCI Express. Remember to buy micro68 cables ($$!!) I suggest Amphenol Cables on Demand, for quality and wide selection of connectors on the other end.
