Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality
"I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn't resolve. . . . I used to not like God because God didn't resolve. But that was before any of this happened." In Donald Miller's early years, he was vaguely familiar with a distant God. But when he came to know Jesus Christ, he pursued the Christian life with great zeal. Within a few years he had a successful ministry that ultimately left him feeling empty, burned out, and, once again, far away from God. In this intimate, soul-searching account, Miller describes his remarkable journey back to a culturally relevant, infinitely loving God.
At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

Mere Christianity (updated)
I have heard many books compared to Lewis' Mere Christianity. The problem with most of these wanna-be classics is usually that they follow Lewis' formula much too closely. One recent example is Wright's Simply Christian. Although if you know me...

Great perspective on Christianity but more importantly a personal relationship with Jesus
I just finished this book in 2 days and found it a bit refreshing to read a person who says what we at one time or another may think. I highly recommend this book, as anyone can relate to a persons struggle with religion.

A Valuable Piece of Literature
This is a great read and an effective outreach tool for unbelievers/doubters. NON-Christian thoughts on Christianity. How cool is that?

This book had an impact
I had been unhappy with my church for over a year when I read this book. As I read, I kept thinking "I want what this guy has". When I got to the part where he said he felt like belonged at his church, I knew I was church shopping. And yes I found...

Entertaining and Enjoyable
Pros: This book was like a breath of fresh air. It was so refreshing and entertaining. Very powerful and deep at times but always enjoyable. I could hardly wait for my reading time each day. In many ways I wish I could think more like him....

A wonderful wonderful set of ramblings
as I am an 18 year old christian in college, I felt so good when I found a book like this. The ideas within I felt I could relate to. When the bible says if your eye sins cast your eye into hell, and yet says love thy neighbor, I've always...

What a great title metaphor
I bought this book on the strength of the title metaphor as expressed in the "book description" quote: 'I used to not like God because God [like jazz] doesn't resolve...' I still haven't reached that part of the book, but I discovered a lot of...

Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality
Interesting story but really does not share about being discipled. He writes well but glorifies the selfish lifstyle and not how God rescues us from death and gives us "RESURECTION LIFE".

Nah...
I'm not well-versed in religious/spiritual literature; this was my first foray into the genre. I chose it because the Amazon community rated it highly... BUT, I have to say that this was largely a waste of time, though I was warned on the front...
