The Baby Book
This was purchased for my granddaughter who recently gave birth to her first child. She had lots and lots of questions and I felt this to be the best way to answer many of those questions. I would recommend it to other new parents.

Lots of good relavent information
This is quite a thick book but it needs to be as it has lots of information on the development of a child. Very easy to read and answers lots of questions that cross my mind on a daily basis. Like when should he be smiling etc.

"I left a promising career to stay at home when my baby was born, feeling my career as a mother was even more important"(p. 413)
This book consists of a one-sided acclamation of attachment theory, which is used as an alleged scientific support for the view that women should go back to the kitchen and become full time mothers. A good guidebook should objectively cover all existing psychological theories about parenting,...

Get this one.
If you're a first time mom--or dad--this is the book to get. It covers virtually everything you need to know up until two years. I felt pretty clueless before I read this book and then, afterwards, felt better and calmer about the whole situtation. Don't be intimated by it's size. It's pretty big...

best baby book out there
We used this book as our bible for the first year of our son's life. We are happy to report that he is now 3-1/2 years old, and one of the most well-rounded, happy, healthy kids we know. He eats all kinds of foods, sleeps well, and is very active in the world.
