Here to Stay: Gershwin and Jobim
BR6 is the story of six singer-friends living and working in Rio de Janeiro who got together to form a vocal group. But, unlike most other groups that do it with voices backed by a band, BR6 (6 professional musicians and arrangers) chose the most difficult way of making vocal music: without any instruments. The group has been influenced by various generations of Brazilian vocal groups and by the American a cappella group Take 6. Their initial CD, "Música Popular Brasileira A Cappella", won the best CD of the year 2005 in the Folk/World Album category from CASA (The Contemporary A Cappella Society). "Here To Stay: Gershwin & Jobim" is their first album in English and the debut release for the group in the US. Comprised of familiar standards by George Gershwin and Tom Jobim and recorded with no instruments other than voices, "Here To Stay: Gershwin & Jobim" was produced and arranged entirely by the group members. more

- Brazilian a capella jazz
Lovely album. I'm glad I heard a bit on local community radio and decided to try it. Still don't know how they make all those percussive sounds. Nice mixture of Gershwin and Jobim; I look forward to more from BR6.
