Take Your Place
Since the release of their debut album Cooling The Mark, General Rudie have been gaining notoriety for their explosive live shows, making people dance wherever they play. General Rudie?s style is based on Jamaican ska, but versatility is the most important component of their music. The sextet adds variety to ska by meshing it with pop, reggae, jazz and urban rhythms, creating a progressive and unique sound. For the last three years, General Rudie has been performing and recording without the use of a guitar, a unique element in the world of ska. But with a new album around the corner, the band has evolved their sound by adding a guitar. The instrument has brought more intensity to their music, allowing them to cater to their pop influences while also representing their old school roots. As General Rudie continue to gain popularity at home and abroad, their mandate will remain unchanged: they will continue to be the tightly-knit collective they have always been while providing exciting possibilities within the vast frame of ska music. more
