- Interesting stories
I read these stories a few years ago now. They are a little dark and disturbing....which is good (for some). I enjoyed them, and think it's about time to re-read them. Good book...but buy it used.

I feel like kind of a jerk reviewing this lowly. I mean, it was...it was nice. They're sweet, funny-ish, lovely-written. Just loses it's charm after five or six stories where.... "I hold an odd job and had a funny thought today and then...

- For anyone with a child interned at the hospital...
Recently I spent a third long stay at a hospital with my daughter. Living at the hospital, particularly accompanying your child, is a surreal (at best) existence. I found myself thinking constantly of Moore's incredible rending yet...

Lorrie Moore's collections of short stories are funny, moving and poignant. Her voice is clear and unfaltering. "People like that are the only people here; canonical babbling in peed onk" is certainly the most tender and agonizing...

Apart from the fact that I was put off by the author's piece on her son's cancer (she was writing about a heart-wrenching subject in a too dryly ironic mode - that repelled me), the rest of the stories range from okay to superb. My...
