No 64-bit drivers

This item will not work with 64-bit Vista. I had bought a new PC specifically for scanning and enhancing a large number of transparencies and was a very unhappy camper when I found out that I had to keep my old machine just to use with this scanner. If Nikon is not willing to keep the drivers...

Works for me

I have used this product for 2 years and am very satisfied with the overall operation. I concur with some of the other reviewers that the film holders are not the best; but it is not necessary to go to the glass holder for medium format. I have been very successful printing up to 20x24 in...

For medium format negatives, easily better than my local pro lab

I was astonished at what this scanner could do, in terms of preserving the gentle tones of my black and white negatives. My only regret is that there is no equivalent to Digital ICE for black and white. That problem is not unique to this scanner, of course. The quality of the images I get from...

Excellent scanner but with quirks

As other reviewers stated, the results with this scanner are stunning. What you can achieve from a well-exposed 6x7 transparency is almost unbelievable. Buying it is one of the best things I have ever done in my 22 years as a professional artist. Even older grainy film is handled well by the...

Best solution for what I needed

The device has worked exactly as I had hoped allowing me to archieve hundreds of old negatives that would have been lost or cost much more than what I paid for it. I am very pleased.

Amazing

I had a trusty Imacon drum scanner for many years. Sadly it went kput recently and i found myself having to replace it but unwilling to fork over 15k for a new Hasselblad scanner (they aquired Imacon). I had heard great things about the Nikon and purchased this model for my medium format...

Film Isn't Dead

I was lucky to have access to this scanner at my college. Let me tell you, the images it produces are a beaut! Anyone who tells you film is dead hasn't seen scans from this . This is a professional-grade device. It allows you to revitalize older film that has degraded overtime. It can...

Amazing scans of seriously degraded film

I bought one of these units primarily to digitally archive hundreds of old photos shot and mounted as 6x6 and 35mm slides, as well as lots of B&W 35mm negatives. The 6x6 color slides are as much as 50 years old, with some mounted in glass -- which was a bad idea, as those slides have had...

Fantastic

The quality of this scanner is amazing. The detail that it picks up from slides and negatives is incredible. The only drawbacks are that you have to scan bw negatives without Digital Ice (so you'll have a lot of manual cleanup to do) and the fact that there are no trays to scan 110 and 126...

Distorted Ratings

The low ratings for this scanner are due to availability problems. The scanner itself is excellent!
