Best Scanner

Pros: Great workhorse Cons: ADF misfeeds I am an office manager and use my 5590 daily. It is currently 3 years old and is still going strong. It helps me be more efficient and cuts down on making copies to send to our purchasing and travel offices be

Worked great for 5 months - then died!

This scanner worked perfectly for the first 5 months. I probably scanned 3000 pages of stuff. Then all of a sudden I could not "initialize scanner". I use it with my MacBook Pro. The scanner shows up in my "About This Mac", just not in the HP software anymore. After navigating HP's voicemail...

Scanner is completely unreliable

This was a big disappointment to us. We've always insisted on HP printers in my company, and thought that their scanners would match the printers quality, but that hasn't been the case for us. This scanner is used on a daily basis for numerous small multipage jobs. It randomly stops communicating...

Great Scanner

I'm sure there are better scanners out there but so far this is the best that I have delt with. I use this scanner everyday at work. It scans photos, slides, and text. I love it. It is a bit cumbersome because of the size but the quality makes up for that. I highly recommend this scanner.

You want peanut butter with all that jam?

I mean jelly. Bought this to turn the archive our ugly metal filing cabinet and e-file all these bank statements and bills. Using XP. Easy to set up. I use the document feeder the most. I think I spend more time removing paper jams than actually scanning. I'm about to throw this out the window!...

Don't bother

My work got me one of these for my office. It sucks. It's sensors are either too smart or too dumb for their own good. It sometimes wants to break a scanned picture, in picture scan mode, into multiple cropped panels: like removing the blue sky from the top of a landscape picture. Then in...

An unreliable scanner that I would not recommend at this price

HP ScanJet 5590 Digital FlatBed ScannerQuality-wise, this scanner is fine for my needs; I am scanning old photos for archiving and the software that comes with it is easy-to-use and I was impressed with how easy it was to fix up photos, albeit I was looking for something quick. That being said, I...

Works great so far!

I am an amateur historian and genealogist, the HP Scanjet 5590 is one of the best investments I've ever made. The scanning quality is superb and the document feeder has worked perfectly so far.

Worse than useless

The automatic document feeder always jams. Not periodically, not sporadically, but definitely. This is on pristine, clean, perfect input documents. Do not waste your money on this piece of garbage. In fact, I cannot believe that HP ever had the nerve to put this machine on the market. Thank you...

Jams constantly - software is awful

I purchased this scanner because it scans both sides automatically, however I have found that it jams nearly every time I use it and the software is very problematic. After owning this scanner for a couple of months I have decided to rid of this scanner and purchase something better.
