Defective right out of the box.
My experience mirrors that of DMAC from Fort White , FL. I received my HP G4010 on Saturday and had the same problem loud clicking and no movement by the scanning bar. To compound matters, HP's tech support is non-existent on the weekends, both by

Good for document and photo, not film or slide

The Scanner was defective when it arrived All it would do was issue loud Clicks in the scanning mode

Had terrible problems with setup, but HP support was outstanding and had me up and operating in a couple of hours. Running Dell XPS with Win XP Pro seemed to cause registry problems that I had to work 12 steps upon. Would not recommend for people wit

Excellent product and well worth the price
