The First Years Hide-a-Way Gate
The Hide Away Gate with Retractable Convenience is designed to provide safety when parents need it and virtually "disappear" when not needed. This protective mesh barrier has no footholds for climbing, a two-step locking mechanism which is easy for adults but too difficult for children, and is hardware-mounted for added security. Unlike other safety gates, this gate fully retracts keeping entryways open without any tripping hazards or hurdles. For between the room and bottom of stair use only. This gate is not recommended for top of stairs. Extends from 24" - 42" inches wide and mesh barrier is 31" tall. more

Noisy, Cheap Hardware, Disappointing
I needed this gate for our hallway as the walls are not plumb and it is impossible to get a tension mounted gate to stand firmly (without toppling over with the slightest bit of pressure from a baby leaning on it). I also love the idea of not having to constantly take down and put back up the...

Better than the pressure gate
I installed this gate between the kitchen and the hallway. I wanted a gate that wasn't always in the way like the pressure gate we have at the bottom of the stairs. This one is out of the way when we aren't using it, and can be closed with one hand after I've swooped the ten month old up from...

Should opening a gate wake up the whole house?
I own three of these gates and appreciate them from an aesthetic point of view.Installation is not easy and you can toss out the packaged screws upon opening the box. You are going to need better screws. You will have a hard time mounting both ends on a straight line when not dealing with a door...

Great "stealthy" gate!
The First Years HideAWay GateI purchased this for our home since our baby has started to crawl. We wanted something that wasn't too bulky, easy to use, but safe. We really didn't want the typical metal gate. So, when we saw this, we thought it was a good idea. The installation was easy. It...

Excellent
I love this gate. I would say that it is not intended for, or good, if you plan on going through it often. It is not a one handed operation (nor does it claim to be) and could be quite difficult if you have things in your hands. However if you use it like I do to keep your child in their room...

Doesn't fit!
I really wanted this gate to work well! It looks so cool. But it was a PITA to install, and even with the banister attachments that we had to purchase separately, it did not fit on our stairs! We have larger than normal baseboards and a wooden spindle banister on one side with a wall on the...

Not for Toddlers!!!
Our son learned how to crawl UNDER this gate, it is just flexible enough for him to get under. Don't buy this product! Our beagle was the one who "taught" our son this "under the gate" trick...

Better than some give it credit for!
We have had this gate for a few days now and I think some people are not giving it enough credit. Yes, it is a little noisy, if you plan on opening and closing right next to a sleeping child then I'd say maybe this isn't the right gate for you, but I certainly don't duck for cover from the noise....

Works, but could be engineered a little better
Keep in mind I am an engineer, so I may be a little more critical than the average person.Just to clarify, this gate does work as advertised and I will buy another one (picked up 2 today).First of all, I would recomend throwing away the very cheap screws that come with the unit and just use some...

Too Loud!
Will definitely wake up any sleeping child within the house and impossible to open or close gate with one hand. I am sorry I bought this product.
