After his hugely successful late-'60s partnership with Larry Williams ("Mercy, Mercy, Mercy"), Watson had a few fallow years. But in 1976 he hit his stride with Ain't That A Bitch, a potent combination of funk rhythms, jazz keyboards and stinging blues guitar. The album made the pop charts and reached #4 on the Black charts, spurred by the success of the single "Superman Lover," which has been sampled numerous times by hip-hop acts like Jay-Z, Mary J.
