"A dream computer for the multitasker"
You could spend less -- I cannot give a true performance comparison between processors -- but for my work I needed to be sure that my computer would not get in my way. So far, I am satisfied. If you are not an intensive user, you may be able to step

PROS: I can have 10 programs open and this computer doesn't slow down a bit. Mine is configured with 8GB of RAM -- you'll need Vista 64-bit for this. I upgraded from a five-year old computer that groaned and crawled, so this feels like freedom.
CONS: Some people report loud fan noise. Yes, occasionally it does rev up, but not for long and not often and not that loudly. Wish there were more USB ports in back. They are also too close together.

"Average dell"
Bottom line is other PC's in this price range hp toshiba & gateway Don't perform as well as this one. I would recommend this computer to others. Listen up DELL add more power supply options & Graphics options to this lineup you'd sell alot more.

"I wanted to love it"
Upgraded my system to 600W psu, and 9800 gtx+, add a case fan. Overall slightly disappointed because I expected better.

PROS: 8 cores of intel, fast*ish, even cheaper refurbished
CONS: fan is stupid loud : meaning it can be quite but then turns up 100% and is really loud at times. Not as fast as the hype. Still has a 7200 rpm HDD, DDR3 Mem has high latency. VISTA X64 Stinks , no XP option.

It's amazing what a difference a few years can make. Back in 2005, a $1,300 desktop would have been moderately powered, able to do word processing and spreadsheets fine but unable to play games without getting winded. These days, that same price will

PROS: High-end performance for what used to be a mainstream price. Can play games, including Crysis. It's not a gaming rig, so it won't stick out.
CONS: At this price, it should have had Blu-ray and a little more storage. Its power supply somewhat limits future expansion.
