Punk Goes The 80's In The Series' Best Yet

The 80's were memorable to say the least; in fact, it had an air all it's own. The music has stood the test of time, and still holds fond memories for those who lived through the decade. Apparently, the bands who appear on this album grew up in the 80's, and are covering their favorite songs, for...

Same taste no Flavor

Ok most of these songs are classics in their own right and it seems like so many of the artists here just played the song as it was on the original recording. I enjoy punk covers and was hoping for something a little more edgy to the sound. Only a couple of songs on this cd are following that...

Missing some Hits

I was hoping this CD came with some more well known 80's songs. I would be funny to hear someone like NoFX play the

How Cover Tunes Go Bad

So one of the things that I got for Christmas was the punk cover tunes compilation "Punk Goes 80's". I had high hopes for this compilation, as I greatly enjoy both punk and 80's music, and previous compilations like this (notably "Before You Were Punk").I have thus far been sorely...

Emo/Punk Meets the 80's - Brilliant Match

I lived in the 80's. I love the 80's. I grew up listening to bands like New Order, Tears for Fears, OMD, the Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxie and the Banshees, the Church, etc. You should know the drill. In my adulthood, I found emo/screamo (which equals punk according to groups listed on this cd)...

Get Over The Title

First off, in this day & age...anything titled "punk" is not the 70's rebellion most want it to be. Nowadays, punk is anything with a distortion in the amp. But you know what? Get over it...times change. It's all about the music, not the label.Moving on, standout's on this CD are the Gatsby cover...

Punk?

Johnny Rotten it ain't. When did punk go pop? These versions are well done, and I'll be the first to admit that I'm not familiar with many of the groups covering the songs (sorry, I'm an old guy), but this is not punk anything. It's pure pop. In fact I find it pretty hard to believe that any...

hit or miss

the midtown cover of the outfield's "your love" is really fun, and jamisonparker does a good job in his rendition of tears for fears's "everybody wants to rule the world". the rest of the album you can take or leave.
