Blood Hollow (Cork O'Connor Mysteries)
A brilliant new installment in the prize-winning Cork O'Connor series -- from the acclaimed author of Boundary Waters and Purgatory Ridge. When the corpse of a beautiful high school student is discovered on a hillside four months after her disappearance on New Year's Eve, all evidence points to her boyfriend, local bad boy Solemn Winter Moon. Despite Solemn's self-incriminating decision to go into hiding, Cork O'Connor, Aurora, Minnesota's former sheriff, isn't about to hang the crime on a kid he's convinced is innocent. In an uphill battle to clear Solemn's name, Cork encounters no shortage of adversity. Some -- like bigotry and bureaucracy -- he knows all too well. What Cork isn't prepared for is the emergence of a long-held resentment from his own childhood. And when Solemn reappears, claiming to have seen a vision of Jesus Christ in Blood Hollow, the mystery becomes thornier than Cork could ever have anticipated. And that's when the miracles start happening....

A search for a murderer and a search for spiritual understanding
The spiritual search is a very important part of this novel, but doesn't overpower or slow down the plot development. The primary suspect in this Cork O'Conner mystery is led to seeking spiritual guidance in order to find his proper place in the scheme of the universe, and while the search is...

Blood Hollow
Blood Hollow is a fast paced mystery that you don't want to put down. Its long enough to have a lot of twists and turns, but not so long as to make it your lifes work! Kruegers "Cork O'Connor" stories give you a good dose of mystery, some geographical information, and some Native American...

Another Cork O'Connor Mystery with a Look at Faith
Another Corcoran O'Connor book that I enjoyed. Same good character development and relationships between characters. There was a stronger element of looking at faith in this book, an interesting change.

Deeper, More Complex Krueger Book
More than the other books I've read by this fine author, "Blood Hollow" is deep, nuanced and bold. The author takes the death of a girl in the Boundary Waters country of Minnesota and weaves a compelling story of intrigue and suspense. The characters are well-drawn and the plot moves steadily...

A Gripping and Moving Mystery
William Kent Krueger won me over with this Cork O'Connor mystery. The narrative style is deceptively calm, almost peaceful, until the reader suddenly finds herself embroiled in the conflicts of Aurora, Minnesota, and it becomes imperative that she, along with Cork, find out who is committing...

Cork O'Conner does it again
I've read Blood Hollow twice and enjoyed it just as much the second time around. You can always count on Krueger giving you a book that is multi-layered, you'll experience the settings and the weather, come to love Cork O'Connor and his family, and be mystified while trying to figure out who the...

Strong writer, so-so mystery
Krueger is a wonderful writer. The first two chapters paint a vivid, intense picture, and really got me excited about my first reading of this author. And the writing holds up throughout. I can't say the same of the mystery, and certainly not of the suspense. The mystery is captivating when it...

A little creepy
This was my first book I read by this author. I love mysteries and I picked this up for two reasons: 1. Won a Mystery Book Award in the past and 2. Set in Northern Minnesota. The descriptions of life in Northern Minnesota were well written, interesting, and I found myself remembering the red...

Blood Hollow
It is so nice to visit lovable, if flawed Cork O'coonor again. The changes in his character add realism to him. This book captures the qualities of a small town and the people who live there. Cork, again, strives to stay true to his ideals, although not always in the most conventional...
