The Digital Photography Book
Scott Kelby, the man who changed the "digital darkroom" forever with his groundbreaking, #1 bestselling, award-winning book The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers, now tackles the most important side of digital photography--how to take pro-quality shots using the same tricks today's top digital pros use (and it's easier than you'd think).
This entire book is written with a brilliant premise, and here?s how Scott describes it: "If you and I were out on a shoot, and you asked me, 'Hey, how do I get this flower to be in focus, but I want the background out of focus?' I wouldn't stand there and give you a lecture about aperture, exposure, and depth of field. In real life, I'd just say, 'Get out your telephoto lens, set your f/stop to f/2.8, focus on the flower, and fire away.' You d say, 'OK,' and you'd get the shot. That's what this book is all about. A book of you and I shooting, and I answer the questions, give you advice, and share the secrets I've learned just like I would with a friend, without all the technical explanations and without all the techno-photo-speak."
This isn't a book of theory?it isn't full of confusing jargon and detailed concepts: this is a book of which button to push, which setting to use, when to use them, and nearly two hundred of the most closely guarded photographic "tricks of the trade" to get you shooting dramatically better-looking, sharper, more colorful, more professional-looking photos with your digital camera every time you press the shutter button.
Here's another thing that makes this book different: each page covers just one trick, just one single concept that makes your photography better. Every time you turn the page, you'll learn another pro setting, another pro tool, another pro trick to transform your work from snapshots into gallery prints. There's never been a book like it, and if you're tired of taking shots that look "OK," and if you?re tired of looking in photography magazines and thinking, "Why don't my shots look like that?" then this is the book for you. more

An excellent first book on Digital Photography
This Scott Kelby book on digital slr photography is an excellent first resource. It makes many economical recommendations to help you wade through the myriad choices that exist in the dslr world. The book is laid out as if you are asking scott questions and he is answering them. It is not a book...

great for begginers and semi-pro
This book was a great help, I'm a beginner in photography with some experience from taking graphic design in college. If your looking for a book of explanations on how to get the shot this book is not for you. If you want to learn in easy terms and how to get great shots without all the technical...

Very Basic
I don't know what I read that led me to believe I would find value in this book. It is very basic and if you have been shooting for even a short amount of time it will be of little or no value.Interestingly I found little about digital photography within and so the title is even misleading.

Great Basics Book
This book has lots of great tips and walk through instructions on a lot of camera settings. The writer also has a great sense of humor he throws in there. Really enjoyed this book and finished it in 2 days. Good buy.

Do you want to understand photography or just learn tips?
This book is a list of so called pro-tips and recipes to take good shots...If this book were the only one on the market maybe it'd rate decently... The problem is there is another book called "Understanding exposure" by B Peterson that is so much better (read my review on this book). With B...

Not Bad
I bought this book based on reviews here. I had used 35mm years before and was reentering photography as a "serious" hobby after some years away and some years of point and shoot cameras. The book is okay and certainly not a waste of money. The info contained could be found in just about any...

Good info, but childish approach
Even though I knew what was coming from reading other reviews, I was still annoyed and put off by the childish game playing of Kelby's "jokes". Once? OK. Even twice. Fine. But it is a theme and to be honest, distracting and immature. Even to the point of making you angry that you are paying him...

A good place to start.
I've been away from "real" photography for many years, and rather than dust off and upgrade all my old 35mm equipment, I decided to jump in with both feet and go full digital SLR. Unfortunately I came to realize I had forgotten almost all I once knew (or thought I knew) about SLR photography....

A good aid for getting the shot
Looking at the title and buying online withought benefit of thumbing through the contents, you might get the impression that this is an all encompassing book on digital photography. The price should have been my clue. Each page contains a half page, or less, of text with a photo above. The...
