Challenging
I am leading a small group through this book.It challenges comfortable Christianity and inspires me to go to the broken and tender places of the world. On the negative side, there is some crass language that while not obscene could keep those who need to hear what he is saying from giving it a...

I want to wait a few years
I really enjoyed this book. I won't touch Shane's theology. I know next to nothing about the evangelical church. I am a blue collar liberal "cradle" Episcopalian. What I noticed and want to comment on, is that Shane makes a lot of young man's errors. He tends toward self righteousness. He is...

Keeping the main thing, the main thing
There are a lot of reviews here. Lots of big theological reviews. After doing seminary courses, I have wearied of those types of discussions. I feel too much like a Pharisee or Sadducee. Less sitting around talking doctrine and more action helping people is the conclusion I have reached.Shane...

Two Major Issues with Shane's Vision of Ministry
I read this book months ago, and waited until now to review it. It took me that long to pray through and digest this challenging view of the Christian life. But after going through it more than once and discussing it with college kids and seniors, theologians and new Christians, I have come to...

An Authentic Christian Voice
While Claiborne often rambles and repeats himself, sometimes making me wish he had an editor with a firmer hand, The Irresistible Revolution's literary sins are merely venal. In the end, Claiborne's authentic voice shines through. Agree with his politics or not, I suspect the world would be a far...

Best book I've read in years!!
Amazing book! What does it look like to love Jesus and others by actually being his hands and feet? Shane actually asks those questions and tries to find others who actually are. This challenged me and opened my eyes to my own complacent life and selfishness. Shane is full of love and compassion...

Sign me up for Shane's revolution!
Shane Claiborne has written a moving account of his journey from the highly politicized, media-saturated, fun and games, evangelical youth subculture he was raised in to the slums of Calcutta with Mother Teresa, the streets of Baghdad on the eve of the Iraq invasion, and finally to the founding...
