Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog
"
The heartwarming and unforgettable
story of a family in the making and the
wondrously neurotic dog who taught
them what really matters in life
John and Jenny were just beginning their life together. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they brought home Marley, a wiggly yellow furball of a puppy. Life would never be the same.
Marley quickly grew into a barreling, ninety-seven-pound streamroller of a Labrador retriever, a dog like no other. He crashed through screen doors, gouged through drywall, flung drool on guests, stole women's undergarments, and ate nearly everything he could get his mouth around, including couches and fine jewelry. Obedience school did no goodMarley was expelled. Neither did the tranquilizers the veterinarian prescribed for him with the admonishment, "Don't hesitate to use these."
And yet Marley's heart was pure. Just as he joyfully refused any limits on his behavior, his love and loyalty were boundless, too. Marley shared the couple's joy at their first pregnancy, and their heartbreak over the miscarriage. He was there when babies finally arrived and when the screams of a seventeen-year-old stabbing victim pierced the night. Marley shut down a public beach and managed to land a role in a feature-length movie, always winning hearts as he made a mess of things. Through it all, he remained steadfast, a model of devotion, even when his family was at its wit's end. Unconditional love, they would learn, comes in many forms.
Is it possible for humans to discover the key to happiness through a bigger-than-life, bad-boy dog? Just ask the Grogans.

Marley & Me
I absolutely loved this book! It had me laughing so hard and then crying like a baby. I have recommended to some of my friends and family and certainly would not hesitate to in the future! Being an animal loved helped, but I think anyone with a heart

An emotional roller-coaster read
And I mean that in the best way possible. This book had me laughing one minute and crying the next with it's openness and honesty. A true delight for every dog lover!

Pretty good book . . .
Unlike most of the reviews for this book that seemed to either adore it or hate it, I thought the book was just `pretty good.' It did seem a shame that Marley's owners seemed so ill prepared for dog ownership, but I think their hearts were in the...

Simply perfect in an imperfect dog sort of way...
I have to say that this is one of the most delightful and heartwarming books I have read in a long while. Anyone who has ever had or loved a Labrador knows that they are terrific dogs but they can have endless energy. Take that tendency to have...

hilarious!
This has to be THE most uplifting book I've read in a dog's age! I even bought three copies so I could lend them out to people who are going through some tough times and just need a reason to smile. God definitely had a sense of humor when He...

I bought this book after lamenting if it would be worth reading at all. I had just lost my lab of 9 years and love the memories I had. With that said, I didn't think any story of someone else's lab could touch me as much. This book has made me lau

Marley & Me
I laughed, I cried, I loved this book. After adopting a dog already named Marley from the shelter, I really had to read this book. Luckily, our Marley is not the same mischievous, neurotic dog as the original Marley!
