I hate this book
Every parent I have met who used this system had very little control over their children. This is especially true for those who started using this book from a young age. I have read it myself and found the general principles helpful but to impliment these principles across the board with no...

Wonderful parenting book
This book is a great tool for parenting our children. Helping us to see the heart issues and not just the behaviour issues and dealing with them. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to teach their children and guide their hearts as they learn to grow and mature into healthy adults.

Shepherding a Child's Heart
We are using this book as the basis for a class at our church. It is biblically-based and very sound in its foundation. The author has considerable experience and background in this area. It is practical and straightforward in its approach to parenting from a Godly viewpoint. It is not the...

False advertisement
I did not receive what I ordered. The book pictured is a revised edition (which is what I wanted) I received a 2005 version with a different cover. This is false advertisement and it should be specified on the order that they are giving you an out of print and older version.

A Good Read for loving Parents

Awesome book.
No way does this book promote child abuse! Rather, it promotes true, real, godly love for your child. If you love your child then you will discipline them. And if you don't physically discipline your child, then the Bible says you actually hate them! Proverbs 13.24: "Whoever spares the rod HATES...

A Book For Parents which Advocates ABUSE!!
I am absolutely horrified that so many people can endorse a book which so clearly reveals that the author has NO IDEA about the needs of infants and young children. Those who love Tripp's book complain that the critics are exaggerating the advice about spanking and taking it out of context. I do...

God's ways are higher than our ways
We don't understand why "the rod" is necessary for Biblical parenting any more than we understand why blood sacrifice is necessary for remission of sin. We all would have chosen a different way. Having said that, God made it the way it is and told us the way he did for a reason. We obey his...

sick & sad: promotes child abuse
i don't understand the adoration of this book! while it does address that obedience is not the primary issue (as so many other books do), and focuses on the need to focus on the heart of your child, it misses the mark in a huge way. from endorsing the beating of infants, to a warped view of...

Somewhat Useful
Like any other child rearing book written by fallible humans, there were some useful things I learned from this book and other things I disagree with. No matter what his credentials, what worked so wonderfully with his children may not work for mine. He is not me and his children are wired...
