Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate with Your Baby

?TRACY HOGG HAS GIVEN PARENTS A GREAT GIFT?the ability to develop early insight into their child?s temperament.?
?Los Angeles Family

When Tracy Hogg?s Secrets of the Baby Whisperer was first published, it soared onto bestseller lists across the country. Parents everywhere became ?whisperers? to their newborns, amazed that they could actually communicate with their baby within weeks of their child?s birth. Tracy gave parents what for some amounted to a miracle: the ability to understand their baby?s every coo and cry so that they could tell immediately if the baby was hungry, tired, in real distress, or just in need of a little TLC. Tracy also dispelled the insidious myth that parents must go sleepless for the first year of a baby?s life?because a happy baby sleeps through the night. Now you too can benefit from Tracy?s more than twenty years? experience. In this groundbreaking book, she shares simple, accessible programs in which you will learn:

? E.A.S.Y.?how to get baby to eat, play, and sleep on a schedule that will make every member of the household?s life easier and happier.
? S.L.O.W.?how to interpret what your baby is trying to tell you (so you don?t try to feed him when he really wants a nap).
? How to identify which type of baby yours is?Angel, Textbook, Touchy, Spirited, or Grumpy?and then learn the best way to interact with that type.
? Tracy?s Three Day Magic?how to change any and all bad habits (yours and the baby?s) in just three days.

At the heart of Tracy?s simple but profound message: treat the baby as you would like to be treated yourself. Reassuring, down-to-earth, and often flying in the face of conventional wisdom, Secrets of the Baby Whisperer promises parents not only a healthier, happier baby but a more relaxed and happy household as well.

great book, great advice

I see a lot of negative reviews here from people who want to be patted on the head for exclusively breast-feeding and putting their baby's desires above their own and so forth. This book is all about finding the best compromises for optimizing a family's happiness, including the baby's. This may...

Lots of erroneous information mixed in with some basic common-sense stuff

I had a very positive opinion of this book while pregnant, which changed to disgust by the time my baby was about 3 months old! The main reason is that I got post-partum depression, and some of the advice in this book exacerbated it, because of the undue pressure it put on me when trying to...

Horrible book

A friend bought me this book because of the good reviews on Amazon, and gave it to me at my baby shower. When my son was born, I tried to follow Tracy Hogg's advice, not knowing any better. It turns out her book was useless for my colicky son. Worse, her advice made him more and more agitated....

A useful read, but not a bible

Having read the book before giving birth to our first child, I found many parts of this book to be very helpful. I will say, the more you read, the more you realize you do not need to follow anyone's advice to a "t". Take what works for you, forget the rest. I don't understand the criticism...

A Lifesaver for Tired, Confused, or Frustrated First Timers

This book was a godsend for me, a first-time mom who was at the end of her rope with our 8-week old baby. I had always prided myself on being able to handle just about any challenge in stride. As cute as she was at times - my baby was simply kicking my butt. I was losing every battle and starting...

Sleeping thru the night

Two friends recommended it and since, their little ones were happy, flourishing & sleeping well, we thought we'd give it a try. It became our baby bible. The only behavioral-type baby book I needed

I skimmed a few other newborn advice books, and found them too extreme. Tracy Hogg's approach (if not voice, "luv") was the most in tune with my natural instincts about parenting - that babies prefer a routine (not a schedule) - and gives you practical advice on how to set a course for your baby....

the Bible

we call this book the Bible. of course parenting ultimately comes from instinct and common sense, but this book helped direct us towards trusting our instincts, and helping us make a decision when we didn't have strong feelings one way or the other. like any other baby book, with this one you...

Good stuff - I hope it works

This book came highly recommended. I read it and the advice seems pretty solid. It was clear and easy to understand for someone starting with zero baby knowledge. I am still pregnant so I don't know how well the advice will work, but I do believe it is better than going in blind and just trying...
