Devil Dog; Hound of Hell

Eerie '70's horror gem pitting a relatively normal suburban family against a slavering demonically-possessed German Shepherd whose hunger for human souls far exceeds that of the normal household pet. Although not above resorting to the usual throat-maulings the satanic psycho-pup's preferred method of attack is to supernaturally cause the deaths of various friends and neighbors in a style reminiscent of The Omen.System Requirements:Running Time: 95 minutesFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: HORROR UPC: 631595051797 Manufacturer No: SSDVD-0517  more

Surprisingly decent

Devil Dog is really an OK way to spend an hour and a half. I bought this film in the "Evil Animals" trilogy pack that also includes "Day of the Animals" and "Grizzly", both William Girdler movies. I was reluctant to give "Devil Dog: Hound of Hell" a chance but when I finally did I was pleasantly...

perfect horror experience

One of the scariest movies of all-time!! I was TOTALLY freaked out when I first watched this movie as a child. There are some scenes in movies such as the Grudge and the Ring that brought back memories of this movie (in fact, those same memories are why I came here and decided to write a...

Still As Good As I Remember It!

Eeerie "B" Horror Movie Starring A Menacing Hound From Hell

Being the avid horror movie fan that I am I was reflecting just prior to watching the 1978 Television movie "Devil Dog; The Hound of Hell", on what a great horror premise it was to have a seemingly lovable family dog as the gatekeeper to hell. Strangely from my recollection it has been an idea...

I love these old creepy made-for-TV movies!

I vaguely remember seeing this on TV when I was in about 8th grade. It's great to now be able to see made-for-TV movies like this once again. The picture and sound were better than I expected...very pristine. The bonus features went on...and on...and on... I actually thought that the...

"Go ahead, hold him, he ain't gonna eat you up."

While I've never owned a possessed pooch like the one depicted in the made for television movie Devil Dog: The Hound from Hell (1978), I did once acquire a very naughty ferret, but that's another story for another time...directed by Curtis Harrington (Queen of Blood, Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?),...

Dog Returns

Bad production is the only thing wrong with this movie. Saw it on more than one occasion, and liked it. I think it remains a good movie because of the good plot.

Likeable, entertaining TV horror movie

"Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell" was a made-for-TV movie broadcast on Halloween night, 1978. In fact, I remember watching "Devil Dog" after finishing my Trick-or-Treating that day. The film has a very good cast, with the added bonus of Ike Eisenmann and Kim Richards (Disney Witch Mountain movies)...
