You will never listen to any music the same way again after this album
First of all, I agree with all of the superlatives that have been used in describing how amazing this album is, so I won't repeat them here. All I have to add is that, after I finished listening to this album for about the 100th time, I tried listening to some other music in my library, only to...

Umm.. Did I miss something?
Man, I would have fought someone if I actually had to pay for this "album". I found it orphaned in a fairly appropriate section of the music store 'Lame, overrated & annoying "music"'. Now I know why music was in quotation marks... Some guy at the store actually offered me a gold tooth, a half...

Brilliant
This album by the Mars Volta is brilliant. The album starts with an energetic few tracks, and goes into a spacy jam of Cicatrez ESP. It ends quite abruptly feeling, but the ending leaves you satisfied. The story is about a man named Cerpin Taxt, who poisons himself, goes into a coma, has dreams...

Not Drinking The Kool-Aid
I suppose my review of this album will be seen as the equivalent to a drop of water in the Atlantic Ocean, but I feel I have to express my opinion on it since it is obviously so contrary to virtually everyone else's.Sorry folks, but I don't get it. I am positively baffled as to what people hear...

They Don't Sound Like Rush
I'm sorry, but I just gotta say this. MARS VOLTA DO NOT SOUND LIKE RUSH. I keep reading this. The ONLY connection to Rush are his somewhat similar vocals. There is nothing musically equivalent, besides being a prog band. Anyone who compares them to Rush is a moron. Both bands are excellent in...

TMV at their most restrained
I think the success of this album is due to its seemless transition from ATDI to what is to come later. There is little that you can fault this album with. It definitely stands out from the rest of TMV's albums due to the tight and slick production. There is nothing wrong with that, but this...

Eccentricly Good
After the hardcore years of At the Drive In it feels really refreshing to listen to something so insane and full of ideas. All of the musicians pulled their weight even Flea (bassist of RHCP). It does take a few listens to sound amazing but it is worth the wait. 1. Son Et Lumiere 8/10....

Different, addictive and without a doubt their best work yet
You either will love or hate the sound of Mars Volta, the high energy, experimental rock fusion sound that adapts is almost a reminder of what Led Zep must have sounded like to people when they came out, or when the beatlemania hit america. Something new, something different and full of energy.I...

De-Loused In The Comatorium
The Mars Volta-De-loused In The Comatorium ****1/2De-Loused In The Comatorium was the start to something outragious, something over the top, something amazing, something called The Mars Volta. Rising from the ashes of the great post hardcore punk band At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta is a band all...
