Breezy, Entertaining and Wildly Inaccurate

Langguth's book makes for good entertainment but bad history. His portraits of the various figures involved in the War of 1812 are gossipy and amusing, but add nothing new to the historical record, and his grasp of the facts is tenuous at best....
