Kill Zone: A Sniper Novel
An American general is captured in the Middle East. They threaten to behead him within days. But moments before he is rendered unconscious during the attack, the General realizes that his unseen captors are American. Gunnery Sergeant Kyle Swanson, a top level Marine sniper, receives top-secret orders to rescue the General. But upon landing in the Iraqi desert his men come under ferocious attack and Swanson is the only one left alive. How did the enemy know details of a mission known only to a few top government officials? Swanson soon realizes he is fighting a particularly ruthless and dangerous enemy-American mercenaries working with the White House. They're part of a clandestine conspiracy whose agenda is nothing less than total control of the American military. Full of the kind of action author Jack Coughlin lived during his career as a Marine sniper, Kill Zone marks the debut of an extraordinary writing team. more

Caution!
I was plugging along, enjoying this story, until I came to page 54, where I learned that the United States Senate has only fifty members and that Thomas Jefferson wrote the Constitution. I don't know from Armani trousers and Louis Vuitton Tambour chronographs, Prada boots or Panasonic PV-GS250...

Strange book
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book; it had been purchased for me as a gift. If the author was intending the book to be a James Bond-type affair, with technology and gadgets that are completely implausible, then I understand. However, it seemed that it was written with the...

Pulp Shooter
Thriller based on a US sniper and co-written by an ex-sniper. In essence this is a conspiracy story with political forces trying to force an agenda of employing mercenaries (in the form of large private `security' companies) to replace the US military, and our hero sniper gets caught in the...

Good action novel
Well-done, fast-reading action novel. The plot is highly implausible, but more than compensated for by good action writing and character creation. A good book for a long plane trip.

Mitch Rapp Could Take Lessons from This Guy!!
I never know who to praise when I read a book with co-authors. I know that Jack Coughlin was a top Marine sniper, so I am sure that the authenticity that prevails throughout the book can be attributed to him and that Davis has written a number of books, so I suspect he is the wordsmith. No...

Ok action, but poor technically
An OK book but the author does not know military fighter aircraft. F-14's are no longer in the active Navy inventory (since Sept 2006) and their wings do not fold. AV-8's do not have multiple engines and the wings are fixed AND they do not have afterburners. F-16's do not land on carriers.

Plot poor; writing amateurish
A marine sniper gets sent in to rescue a captured American general and along the way, saves the U.S. from being taken over by the bad guys. The story is loaded with unrealistic scenarios, cartoonish villains, and trite dialogue.

Horrible writing, poor plot, no redeeming feature.
Of perhaps 6000 lifetime books read I have set aside only a few (10?)which I found unreadable. This is one of the 10!
