Emile Henry Flame Top 6.3-Quart Oval Oven, Red

An innovation in ceramics technology, Emile Henry's 6.3-qt. Flame Top Oval Casserole works directly on a gas flame or an electric or halogen hob without a diffuser and without fear of cracking or breaking. Extremely durable and versatile, it can also be used in the broiler or oven and transported directly to the table, refrigerator, or freezer. Much lighter than many comparable metal cookware products, it cleans up easily and is both microwave- and dishwasher-safe. Plus, cooking in ceramic is still the best way to preserve the flavors and nuritional qualities in food, as well as develop the aromas. The convenient lid features small bumps on its underside that favor the condensation process and return important vapors back into the food.  more

Versatile must for your kitchen

Although I own a lot of Emile Henry bakeware, I was hesitant to purchase this huge oval piece, wondering if I would ever use it and blanching at the price. However, next to the smallest flametop casserole, I use this piece more than any other I have. It is dishwasher safe, and spraying with a...

Great soup pot

I love this pot. I make soup in it every Sunday during the winter and it is heavy enough to cook a good soup, light enough to move easily, and it cleans easily in my dishwasher. I intend to buy other sizes.

What a culinary experience...

I have prepared 2 dishes using this oven and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. I prepared a swiss steak recipe by Alton Brown using some venison steaks and some sweet smoked paprika that I also ordered from Amazon. I also prepared a variation of chicken cacciatore by imitating a recipe...

Good Braising, Browns Very Well, Not Heavy At All

I did a lot of checking and lifting of various dutch ovens/casseroles/stew pots by Le Creuset, Staub, Emeril Lagasse, and many others. But when I picked this 6.3 quart oven, I was pleasantly surprised to find how much lighter it is than the others. I bought it from Amazon and cooked with it the...
