The Sneaky Chef: Simple Strategies for Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids Favorite Meals
Parents will do almost anything to get their kids to eat healthier, but unfortunately, they've found that begging, pleading, threatening, and bribing don't work. With their patience wearing thin, parents will "give in" for the sake of family peace, and reach for "kiddie" favorites--often nutritionally inferior choices such as fried fish sticks, mac n' cheese, Pop-sicles, and cookies. Missy Chase Lapine, former publisher of Eating Well magazine, faced the same challenges with her two young daughters, and she sought a solution. Now in The Sneaky Chef, Lapine presents over 75 recipes that ingeniously disguise the most important superfoods inside kids' favorite meals. With the addition of a few simple make-ahead purees or clever replacements, (some may surprise you!) parents can pack more fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants in their kids' foods. Examples of "Sneaky" recipes include: -No Harm Chicken Parm It's a book chock-full of strategies that will help any parent incorporate better health for the whole family.
-Power Pizza
-Incognito Burritos
-Guerilla Grilled Cheese
-Brainy Brownies
-Health-by-Chocolate Cookies
-Quick fixes for Jell-O(R)

Fabulous!
This book is wonderful! The author does a great job of explaining the how and why of everything, which makes it very easy to sneak veggies into my own favorite recipes. The make ahead recipes are simple and easy. It does not take much time to make the purees and with enough to freeze for later...

sorry I purchased...
I bought this book at a yard sale only to later learn about the author's lawsuits against Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld. I was ashamed to have supported this author even through the secondhand route. I used this book for tinder at my last summer BBQ. This book ended up being the best $0.50 bargin...

Next time, sneak some flavor in...
Spent a small fortune on healthy ingredients. Diligently followed four recipes including the time-consuming prep of purees. Unlike three of the recipes, the pizza actually tasted pretty good, but the added nutritional value of its "sneaky" ingredients was negligible. Maybe a teaspoon of...

Excellent Overall But Fat-phobic
Great introduction for the nutritionally-impaired. The different colored and textured purees seem complicated at first so it may take a second reading. Lapine developed a very well thought-out strategy for the various healthy purees. Vastly superior to the Jessica Seinfeld book. I would knock...

Mother approves
A mother of kids who tend to be "picky eaters" finds this book very helpful in making sure her kids are getting the vitamins and nutrients they need from the food they eat.

A lifesaver for this mom of a kid with autism!
My 5-year-old has autism and is beyond picky with food. The only fruit/vegetable he eats, if you can count it, is french fries. But with this book I have learned how to sneak yams and carrots into his grilled cheese sandwiches and peanut butter cookies, and to get spinach and blueberries into...

Perfect Addition For Children
This cookbook is amazing! What's awesome is that my son loves to cook in the kitchen so I have him help prepare the "make-ahead" meals and he doesn't even know that I am going to hide them later!! No one notices I put all this healthy food in there!

some good information
My theory is a cookbook is worth the purchase if I get one good recipe out of it. I tried 6 recipes from this book and 3 of them are pretty good. The chocolate cupcakes were tasty and had a nice texture, even though they contain spinach and blueberries. Next time, I will add some whole...

Not that impressed
I have to say overall I am disappointed with this book. I didn't learn any tips that I hadn't already been doing on my own. In fact, when I hide vegetables in meatloaf, I don't cook them at all before I add them, I just shredded/chop/puree the raw vegetable then add it in. I was also concerned...

Fun cookbook!
This is a fun cookbook. I haven't used many recipes out of it, yet, but the granola bars are yummy. I am going to use the modifications my friend recommended, though. Great idea to "sneak" in something healthy for picky eaters!
