The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

It's no wonder that The Power of Now has sold over 2 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 30 foreign languages. Much more than simple principles and platitudes, the book takes readers on an inspiring spiritual journey to find their true and deepest self and reach the ultimate in personal growth and spirituality: the discovery of truth and light. In the first chapter, Tolle introduces readers to enlightenment and its natural enemy, the mind. He awakens readers to their role as a creator of pain and shows them how to have a pain-free identity by living fully in the present. The journey is thrilling, and along the way, the author shows how to connect to the indestructible essence of our Being, "the eternal, ever-present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death." Featuring a new preface by the author, this paperback shows that only after regaining awareness of Being, liberated from Mind and intensely in the Now, is there Enlightenment.  more

This book can wake you up, if you are open to it.

This is an entry into a new way of seeing and being, and Tolle breaks down the process with crystal clear prose, if one can slow down enough to allow the shift in perception that our culture makes difficult. This is a guidebook. You have to practice what you learn. But I've not seen another...

Wish I could give it less than one star

What a load of hooey! How many times can you repeat "live in the now."? It is his answer to every question posed in his weird question and answer format. I fell asleep on every page but kept reading hoping somewhere the book would redeem itself. Total waste of money. Picked it up while...

relaxing

I tried to read the book at first, but it was hard for me to focus. A friend suggested that I try the audio version. I am only on disc 5 right now, (I have 2 small children which limits my amount of quality time to listen) but I have found his messages beginning to penetrate my normal thought...

Amazing, try to read more than once

This is my first time that I wrote a review about any book I've read. I was start to read books in personal development one years ago, starting from the 7 habits, Getting thing done, Science of getting Rich, Science of getting Well, the Secret, and some psychology books. I recommend this book to...

You will either love it or hate it. I love it!

When I first heard about Eckhart Tolle and his "The Power of Now", I said, "Sounds like Buddhism, to me!" I was very skeptical about Tolle because it sounded like he was just marketing Buddhism under his own name. I can see where some may still insist that this IS what he is doing. But I don't...

First-rate Book

Maybe we all should live in the present moment as Eckheart Tolle suggests. Its true are problems are not really affecting us right now in the "present' so why dwell on them constantly. It's hard to let go of all that brain activity and just live in the `now'. As you read the book you learn how to...

...with a grain of salt...

For the sake of my review, I see this book in two parts. The first is interesting, strange, helpful and also silly. Tolle does a good job of grabbing your attention with a very workable alternative to dealing with problems. As he explains it, there are no problems. All you have to do is agree...

The first 1/3rd is good.

The first third of this book, the one that sets up the theme to which the title refers, is good. It basically states that the majority of our pain comes from our focus on the past (guilt, regret, blame, anger etc.) or the future (stress, anxiety, worry). The only thing we can impact, and the only...
