The Ghost and Mrs. McClure (Prime Crime Mysteries)

From: $0.25

Penelope Thornton-McClure manages a Rhode Island bookshop rumored to be haunted. When a bestselling author drops dead signing books, the first clue of foul play comes from the store's full-time ghost-a PI murdered on the very spot more than fifty years ago.
Is he a figment of Pen's overactive imagination? Or is the likable, fedora-wearing specter the only hope Pen has to solve the crime?

From: Amazon Posted: Nov 27, 2008 Type: User Review Good start....

I am speaking as someone who really does not do mysteries all that often so believe me when I say that these books are excellent. The author did two things that I liked a lot created a strong female character and does not center the stories on...

From: Amazon Posted: Oct 06, 2008 Type: User Review The Ghost and Mrs. McClure

This is a very enjoyable book with very real likable characters, except for the ghost, he isn't "very real". It is a nice mystery that brings in characters, working together, in a small northeast American town. I have since read all of the books...

I picked up this book after hearing great things about the series. While I thought the story was somewhat predictable, I thought it was a great storyline and a great introduction to the series' characters. I'm looking forward to reading the next...

From: Amazon Posted: Aug 19, 2008 Type: User Review More than a 4 less than a 5

The concept behind this series is as entertaining as the old series The Ghost and Mrs Muir. The references to old 40'smovies and mystery books brings humor to a serious subject. This is a a good start to the series and the next three are as...

From: Amazon Posted: Jul 30, 2008 Type: User Review Ok start of a series, but needs work

This book was not the best book I have read, but it was not horrible either. I liked Penelope the main character, I liked the people in the town even if they were a little cliché at times, but the one part of this book I actually did not like...

From: Amazon Posted: Jul 28, 2008 Type: User Review Good Mystery

Likes:
Penelope was timid at the beginning of the book but she gradually became more assertive throughout the book. A lot of cozy mysteries feature a main character that has no spine and are able to escape being killed by sheer luck. I like...

From: Amazon Posted: Jul 15, 2008 Type: User Review The Ghost and Mrs. McClure

This was a fun, light read that kept me entertained, chuckling, and guessing who-done-it until close to the end. If you like to flirt with the paranormal, enjoy mystery/crime novels (there are a lot of references to other authors in the book),...

From: Amazon Posted: Jul 15, 2008 Type: User Review An enchanting read

After her husband dies Penelope (Pen to her friends) and her son move to a small down in Rhode Island to help her Aunt Sadie save her book store. Pen has lots of big ideas for the store, including expanding and adding author signings. When one of...

From: Amazon Posted: Jul 10, 2008 Type: User Review not worth it

What a waste of time. The plot was full of cliches, the perps were telegraphed from the beginning and why try to explain the unexplainable.

If you still want to read it, check with the library - don't spend money on this one.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the setting, the characters and especially the inclusion of the paranormal. It has just the right amount of everything necesary to a cozy mystery. I highly recommend it!
