For advanced players

This is just meant as a short comment, not a review..The video does not carry traits of the typical _instructional_ video. It's more talking about guitar and different solutions in jazz. Although everybody can learn something from it, I think it'll suit advanced players the best! It's a good...

Good...but not great

John Scofield is always good to watch...but the actuall interview and the information I could get from this instructional video are not as good as I expected. Still, the written booklet is very nice. I don't know if I would buy it again, though.

A must for fans of Sco's "Blue Matter" period.

For those familiar with John's "Blue Matter" jazz/funk period, this DVD and Jazz Funk Guitar II are a must. I would argue with another reviewer here that there's actually good instructional value here. It's very hard to create a video lesson that's going to work for an individual, and Sco is best...

DVD Review

This DVD is okay with very little instructional value. The program is done in interview form with very little teaching. A bad DVD for someone who is trying to get into jazz-funk playing but probably resourceful for those familiar with the genre.
