Teaching Little Fingers to Play: A Book for the Earliest Beginner (John Thompsons Modern Course for The Piano)
A series for the early beginner combining rote and note approach. The melodies are written with careful thought and are kept as simple as possible, yet they are refreshingly delightful. All the music lies within the grasp of the child's small hands. more

Does not teach kids to read notes...
I began teaching beginner piano students in January of this year. Wanting to give unfamiliar methods a try, I chose this book for one of my 6 year old beginners. She seemed to really enjoy the songs...and it wasn't until about 2/3 of the way through it that I realized she was not learning to...

Great intro book
Even a parent with no musical experience can use this book to help their kids learn notes. Thompson makes it easy. I got this to teach my husband and my kids and have been playing the piano for about 25 years now. This was my second book, right after the notespeller book.I can sit him down and...

Good book for beginers
My kid love it as he just started learning the keyboard. It is very simple and good for the beginners like my son.

Very good
This is a better alternative to spending $20 on a private piano lesson for your kid, who won't learn anyway if she/he is not motivated or does not practice. After going through the first couple of lessons in the book, my kid can tell where A, B, C are on the keyboards and play with both hands....

Teaching Little Fingers to Play
Three of my children have played this entire book successfully. They began at age 6, 5, and 7, respectively. The five year old actually began with her older sister's instruction at age 4. I would recommend this to beginners. There are diagrams that show the notes and the keys. Cute, colorful...

EXCELLENT TO BEGIN WITH
This is the first book of the Thompson series and I use it constantly for my beginning elementary age school students. They love it and enjoy progressing thru the music. I have even tried it on my adult beginners and it was at a level they too could enjoy!

TERRIBLE
I got this thinking that maybe a new learner can benefit. Without experience i mean. This book is terrible if you yourself do not have any basic knowledge on the piano. Extremely fast paced and Definitely a terrible way to teach. I did not like this at all. Its not even worth a dollar.

Musical yes, earliest no.
My 4 yr. old daughter is enrolled in a Yamaha music school class for 4-5 yr. olds. I bought this book to give us some supplementary songs to practice. The songs in this book are extremely musical and enjoyable; I would have given the book 5 stars except for the use of the superlative...
