Good book... but hard read.
I think this is a great book and shows really strong points about songwriting. Personally, I love Andrea Stolpe's book a little bit more, but they both were great to have in your collection. It might take you a few reads, but you will start to see what a great teacher Pat Pattison is. Both...

Cannot recommend
Perhaps this workbook is somewhat effective when used in a class, less so on one's own. Pattison's writing here is weak and frequently unclear, as if he did tossed this one off too quickly. Worse, the song examples he uses are far too often poor quality lyric writing themselves. Count the...

Deeply disappointing
Pat Pattison's book on lyric structure can be recommended only to musicians who are ill at ease with words, and even they will find that the book is padded to three or four times the length it should be.Pattison's lyrics and the lyrics he quotes (by Sting and Steely Dan for example, as well as...
