At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

"A very nice player... if only it worked."
After a while it started malfunctioning: several of my albums were split in two albums having the same name, there were file name changes, the file system got completely garbled, and it was impossible to repair the device using the software on the CD
PROS: Good-looking, robust, and easy to use.
CONS: Heavily bugged, the risk of ending up with a non-working device are too high. No support for album art.

"It' actually pretty sweet and cheap"
I was debating between the zen 2gb and the philips 4gb, it came down to the wire and i had to choose, so since i have scads of music and my tastes change almost every hour i chose the bigger memory. The zen was about 5 bucks more and i went for the b
PROS: +It actually has satisfactory sound with the headphones, i don't know what these guys are mad about +Can you say compact? this thing fits in my tight skinny jeans. +I bought this 4gb for about 78$, the zen was about 83$ and i got twice the size,
CONS: -Alright, this has photo veiwing but it doesn't support album art or let you watch you sweet slide slow with the music (huge bummer, nothing like music to stir some nostalgic moments up) -The screen needs some intense convex lenses to see, really.

"it just stopped......"
I've had this mp3 player since February.... It's now September. It just stopped yesterday for what seems like no reason. I won't charge, it won't turn on nothing. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.
PROS: video quality is amazing!
CONS: Takes forever to load. Volume quality is awful. Doesn't play some music.

"not what I expected from a Philips"
I sent mine back. The $85 price at Staples was what sold me, but not a good value compared to the ease & volume of my daughter's $19 disney princess player.
PROS: looks & feels like quality
CONS: 5-minute boot/update every on/off cycle. Low volume output - playing in the aux jack of my truck required nearly max volume to listen at a normal volume.

Disappointed
I bought this GoGear about a week and a half ago and I have been having problems with it since I've had it. The potential of having pictures, video, music and fm tuner for the price was great so I decided to give it a try. It has been frozen...

Great potential, poor interface
The SA6045 could be a great player, but the interface is not intuitive and needs a little more work. I use this player primarily for watching videos while commuting and it does OK with half-hour shows. The screen is a decent size and video looks...

Not all Wine and Roses
Compared to the iPod Nano, the Philips 4GB is way overpriced.
