Riding with the King

It sounds like the beginning of a story: "So, Slowhand and the King of the Blues were riding in a car ..." If this is a musical journey, it's the kind that rolls down long, empty stretches of country highway at 80 miles an hour, with the top down and the stereo blasting. Clapton and King may be more city than country, but this collection has the relaxed, laid-back feel that only comes from a pair of veterans doing what they do best. What they do here is cover 12 classic blues songs, many of them staples of King's repertoire, so the title of this album makes sense. Whether it's the rollicking rock & roll of the title track, or the acoustic shuffle of "Key to the Highway," or the sweet notes of "When My Heart Beats Like a Hammer," a real sense of pleasure comes through on this album, the kind of pleasure one gets from jamming late at night with a good friend. --Genevieve Williams  more

GOOD, but doesn't sound SERIOUS

This is not a serious BLUES ALBUM. It is fun to listen to......but I exspected a much more serious SONG SELECTION for these 2 great singers. The "TITLE SONG", is some-what of a joke song. The song "DAY's OF OLD", just doesn't sound like blues. And "I WANNA BE", sounds almost like a rock ANTHEM....

Superb

It was good to hear these two together, both admirable in their own styles.Particulary fond of BB's penny arcade, its so relatable.Sounds like they had a good time recording it.

How you "crossover" wit style

Not completely a crossover album, since Clapton is almost as closely associated with the blues as is King. But the age difference, difference in era, styles and voice types makes this a unique project. Most interestingly is the heavy, "opinionated" musical styles of both artists. At times, there...

Hop in Eric's cadillac

This is the third modern Clapton cd I purchased within a short time. I particularly love the first five tracks on this disc, with the opening title track, Key to the Highway and Three O' Clock Blues being my favorites. The rest of the cd isn't bad, but for me, the first half of the disc is so...

Good for chill'in not really groov'in

Great compilation of relaxing blues toons. Unfortunately relaxing is all you'll get here. I would have enjoyed it a little more if it had included a couple of toons that had made me want to get up and move a little though.

Not perfect, but pretty close

Eric and B.B. are so good that it is easy to overlook this album's short comings. Most everything works well, making this a great collaboration between two musical giants.

BLUES CLUES ?

Where's the Blues? This stuff is garbage. I always heard talk of Claptons greatness but have never actually witnessed any. I love BB and have a few of his great live albums. This album is 2 guys waiting for the other to take charge and play some guitar, too bad it never happens. I think most of...

BB King and Eric Clapton - Riding With The King

This disc is pure fun from start to finish. It's two old blues guys (yes, old, sorry guys!) singing and playing guitar. It's awesome, brilliant and above all it's a blast to listen to for any fan of the blues, BB or Clapton, or a good way to get someone hooked on the blues for the first time!

solid electric blues, sounds like.... a mix of B.B. King and Erc Clapton!

Riding With The King is a CD that sounds exactly like what it is: A blending of BB King and Eric Clapton. Bringing these two guitar legends together makes for a good album, but there are no surprises or anythng unexpected. It's a solid blues-fest. I picked this up here on Amazon used (very cheap...

More grit

This is somewhere between 3 & 4 stars for me, it has some great moments, but overall doesn't quite add up to the sum of its parts. The good first: There is some lovely blues on here and its all well played by Clapton and King with a supporting cast of top notch musicians. These includes Steve...
