Gerard & Jacques 1

Gerard frees Jacques from a high-class brothel (after being his first client), in order to teach the boy how hard it is to make a living as a commoner, only to end up hiring him to be his footman. This is a tale of an erotic novelist and his formerly aristocratic footman.  more

Disappointed

Reading the wonderful reviews that this title has gotten, I decided to shell out and buy both books at the same time. I wish I hadn't.Though my first volume had scrambled pages (as other reviews have mentioned) I managed to order them properly and read the book. But even without the scrambling, I...

ARGGHH!!! Lost a star due to my frustration!

There was one thing that ruined this book for me and it was no fault of Fumi Yoshinaga's. The pages were out of order in over a third of the book. A big chunk right in the middle was completely scrambled. You need to understand what I mean by out of order. There were no more than two or three...

Sorry, this is a 4 star for me...

Gerard & Jacques is not a yaoi I would typically go for but it had some impressive reviews so I bought it anyway. It is a historical drama centered around the aristocracy of France in the late 1700's before the revolutionary war. The novel begins with Monsieur Gerard Anglade attending a brothel...

Recommended for ANY BL Fan...

Gerard & Jacques is an amazing two-volume story. It's a must have whether you're a shounen-ai or hard-core yaoi fan.The author really grabs you by the nose with the opening: young aristocrat Jacques has been sold into prostitution to pay for his family's excesses after his father's death....

Deep Characters

This yaoi is even more explicit than many other books in the same genre, but it's also full of drama and an entertaining relationship between the main characters.

Very good yaoi

I'll say right off the bat, this yaoi was a little more explict then the ones I usually read. Having said that....I loved this volume. At first, Gerard really pissed me off, but through out the shorter stories his character was really given depth. I don't think anyone could dislike this guy...

Enjoyable story

I liked this book from the start. The characters were well thought out and had definite reasons for their actions. It was obvious that the author had taken time to do some research on the period of pre-revolutionary France and the class distinctions.Gerard came off as a brute at first, using...

heart pounding story

this book's drama is strong when it comes to Gerard past, but in a way this is what makes the relationship with him and Jacques so interesting, making the readers hope for a very happy ending for them.

Excellent and original story--great Yaoi

This has to be one of the best Yaoi titles available in English. I completely agree with the other reviewer. The story is so much more than the description suggests, and the artistry is beautiful. Even without Gerard's profile, he has more depth than most Seme characters. And, Jacques isn't...

Highly Recommended Outstanding Yaoi!

This Yaoi surpasses my expectation. The summary does not do it justice as the story is so much more. Labelled "Mature", the theme in G&J is compatible to Target in the Finder, even heavier than Embracing Love and Kizuna. No bondage sex but rape, M/M, M/F and M/M/F sex. The plot took place just...
