At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.

This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

From: Amazon Posted: Feb 21, 2007 Type: User Review Must own this album!

I am a fan of Ben Harpers. Have been since the '90's. I love his vision of music. His soulful vocals. The lyrics of this cd and the energy that went into it, make it my favorite all time of his albums. I even own his newer ones, they still do not...

From: Amazon Posted: Aug 20, 2006 Type: User Review Excuse Me, Mister... This Is a Great CD

This terrific project's songs are nimble, soulful, catchy, and meaningful. I've heard Harper's entire (sometimes uneven) catalog, and this is his most inspired work.

Ben can say so much in just one word. The tracks are mostly deep acoustic that you can jam along to.

From: Amazon Posted: Jan 27, 2005 Type: User Review If You only buy one "Ben Harper" album.......(buy This!!)

For an artist such as Ben Harper, who's reflective blend of acoustic soul & organic stripped down blues and R&B, coupled with his emotional singer/songwriter approach gave his debut album "Welcome to the Cruel World" a great starting point, for...

From: Amazon Posted: Dec 28, 2004 Type: User Review This is the one I hand out.

I have all of Ben Harper's records, and I'm eager to share his music with my friends. When I do, this is the album I buy for them. It shows what Ben's capable of, the styles he is able to transcend, his musicianship, his lyricist capabilities, his...

From: Amazon Posted: Dec 22, 2004 Type: User Review Emotion Laid Bare

'Music is led to your emotions' says Ben Harper. Damn right it is. This album presents in a heartfely, basic style, Ben Harpers outpourings on themes such as marajuana, global injustice, oppression, loneliness and spiritualism.

Fight...

From: Amazon Posted: Sep 12, 2004 Type: User Review Moments of Brilliance, but oftentimes mediocre

I just can't get Ben Harper sometimes. I want to be a huge fan of his, because I admire his approach to music and think he has a great band. Some of his songs (Excuse Me Mr., Ground on Down) would justify my being that. However, too often he...

From: Amazon Posted: Jun 13, 2004 Type: User Review One of the best of the 1990's

Along with U2's "Achtung Baby" and Chris Whitley's "Living with the Law", this CD rates as one of the best of the past decade. Harper seamlessly mixes a number of influences (Rock, R&B, Country, Gospel, Reggae, even Classical), adds his own...

This is a classic album and Harper's best. The bonus is its message, which carries a positive awareness of environmental, social justice, and other moral and political issues infused with a touch of the individual, the personal, and the...
