Very informative
Considering it was written by one of the most well read scientists in the herpes community, it was very easy to follow. Scientific yet personable. I would recommend it to anyone who has herpes that wants to get a very grounded education.

comforting
This book was a lifesaver for me when i found out i was diagnosed as a type 1 carrier of the disease. I felt very hopeless and scared, but after reading this book it was comforting to know the prevalence of the disease and that I could take preventative measures to not transmit it to others.

Once comprehensive but now outdated
The most recent edition of this book is now nearly 10 years old. In the medical field, that is a huge amount of time. I bought this book based on the positive reviews posted on Amazon, but ended up more confused after reading it. This book focuses primarily on the medical facts about herpes...

Covered most of my questions
I think the book was well written and I liked the author's writing style. Its a little outdated though. I would like to see an updated edition with more data on the newer anti herpes drugs such as Valtrex. Its been 5 years, so its time to get some newer information out there.

This book saved my life . . . my self-esteem, marriage, etc!
This book is very informative. I learned more from this book than I did from the multitude of web sites on the subject. It's THE book to give to someone close who doesn't understand the disease.

If you or someone you love has herpes... Read this book !!!
This book not only explains and informs about the physical aspects of herpes better than any other I have ever seen, but it also places all of this information within a "ethically and morally neutral" framework, in which the reader has the choice and is presented with alternative perspectives...
