In 1946 mining engineer Arnold Hoffman published a highly popular book called FREE GOLD - The Story of Canadian Mining. The work covered the successes of the industry to the end of World War II.
Now More Than Free Gold continues the story of the search for fortunes in the ground over the six decades since 1946.
Any endeavour which brings in $45 billion annually to the Canadian economy,contributes 600,000 direct and indirect jobs, provides two-thirds of the rail revenue in the country and three-quarters of the traffic through its ports will spark the interest of many.
Miners north of the 49th parallel produce sixty commodities sought by world markets and our diamonds now rank fourth globally by value of production.
Here is the story of this vast nationwide undertaking.
