At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

Works well here
I was concerned about getting this because other reviews said it didn't work with WD MyBook Hard Drives. Since that would have been a bonus for me and what I really needed was to make my scanner accessible to my wireless laptop, I gave this a try....

Exceed my expectations
All in all, I'm pleased. It's not perfect, but it works much more smoothly than I expected.

"Glorified Switch"
Ease of set-up really depends on the devices you are connecting. Both printers I tried required re-installation of the print drivers even though the printers had been previously installed. For one, this happened every time the device was connected.
PROS: multiple usb devices connected via network
CONS: Works with only one pc at a time

Freezes Windows-based computers as well, can't share hard drives, not wireless...what more do you need to know?
Belkin, I understand you tried to solve a big problem with this product. Problem is...well...it doesn't work! Why this product is still on the market is amazing to me, because I have yet to meet anyone who loves this, or read a completely positive...

"Don't waste your money -- it's "glitch-central" with this Belkin product"
I am returning this product to my local Best Buy tomorrow. My external hard drive was almost completely inaccessible over my wireless network with this hunk o' junk. 99 percent of the time, I was forcibly re-starting my computer because the entire sy
PROS: Looks nice, quick set-up
CONS: Quick set-up leads to glitchy Windows Explorer, hardly ever works with external hard drives

Not suitable for NAS use
I thought this device was going to be something along the lines of Linksys' NSLU2 storage link for providing network access to USB drives. Despite the blurb on the box, this device is not suitable for use in setting up a NAS (network attached...

Locks up Mac OS
The Belkin software locks up my MacBook Pro just about every time I try to use it. The Belkin application is always "busy" when the computer isn't locked up which makes it almost impossible to configure the settings for any devices that are...

Piece of garbage--external HD failures
As several have already written, this is a great idea in concept, but awful in execution. I knew it wasn't "wireless" in the purest sense of the word when I bought it. But I was fine with that. I just wanted the ability to access my Maxtor...

Unusable with Mac OS X Leopard
I wanted to use this to do Time Machine with Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.4) wirelessly via my laptop (Powerbook G4 1 GHz). It did this quite well, albeit more slowly than with a dedicated wired connection. Belkin does have Mac drivers. However, if...
