Bose Lifestyle Home theater system
At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

Great design and build quality with discrete speakers that are child friendly. DVD quality is good (not great) however CD audio is poor. Non-existent mid range, poor imaging, not for audiophiles. (OK for background music)
PROS: Design, on-screen menu, radio remote, goes loud! No evidence of clipping at 100% volume.
CONS: Poor audio - no mid range. Tiring to listen to. Have had some instances of freezing, requiring a re-boot. Expensive

Having flirted with Bose and B&O multi-room systems in the past, I was prepared to be disappointed. Boy, was I wrong. The Lifestyle 50 not only provided the easy out-of-box experience I expected, but once installed, delivers much better...
PROS: size, ease-of-use, multi-source/room control, clarity and impact.
CONS: there is a mid-range drop-out if you are running a frequency analyzer... if you are running a frequency analyzer. but 99% of people won't hear it. if you only need one room control and only "home theater" or "only audio", there are probably other systems

BoseSL 35: I have owned three different LS 35 for less than 45 days. The first system I had for 30 days, and it froze on me during the movies for 3 times. For each time it froze or locked like a computer, I had to shut off the power supply and...
PROS: Sounds great! Save you a lot of electric bill. I still love it.
CONS: I think the only problem is with the dvd.

I decided to get a Bose after experienced the demo-cinema at the local Bose store. I taught the sound was awesome, and the size and design was appealing to me, so I bought a LS 50. The surround-sound is really good, but I donā??t like the...
PROS: Easy set-up. The remote is just incredible. There's only one cable to the cd-player, the rest of the cables are connected to a box you can hide away.
CONS: Midrange. I've experienced (after using the system 6 days), that the cd-player (or system) hangs, I then have to cut the power to get it to work again. It's got old technology; NO DTS, NO optical connections, NO AdaptIQ (Which is strange since this is the
